On Sunday November 12, an energetic group of friends of Fonta Flora came together to plant the second phase of the Fonta Flora Native Plant Botanical Garden at the Whipporwill Farm Brewery. The team planted 35 plants of 11 species, adding to the emerging design layout completed by UNCC Professor Edward Davis. Plants were sourced by Botanist Larry Mellichamp (author of the seminal book – Native Plants of the Southeast).
The Native Plant Botanical Garden will be a working garden source for the brewery, as well as a demonstration garden for visitors to the forthcoming Fonta Flora Farm Brewery. The educational impact of the garden has tremendous potential as Fonta Flora attracts visitors from across the country who pursue their award winning creations. Foragable Community and Byron Fellowship Educational Foundation are investment partners in this innovative brewery-Botanical Garden collaboration.
